Project Summary

Shrum Chemistry Renew represents one of the first opportunities to renovate a SFU campus building dating back to Simon Fraser University’s inception in the late 1960’s.

Challenges were faced with the seismic upgrading on the original portion of the project and with the aggressive 16 month schedule.  Compounding the difficulty was that the existing building was a hub for the electrical and communications systems to most of the surrounding buildings.  Through extensive coordination with SFU Facilities Management group the systems were successfully brought up to current standards without interruptions to the rest of the campus.

With over 100,000 square feet of finished classrooms, labs, and office space the project was successfully turned over “On Time” and on budget.
